Description
🍄 Potato Dextrose Medium (PDM) — a general-purpose fungal and bacterial growth medium; used in TC labs for contamination characterisation, mycorrhizal culture, and endophyte isolation.

💡 Role in a TC lab (not for plant culture)
PDM is not a plant growth medium — it grows fungi and bacteria. TC labs use it for: identifying contaminating fungi by colony morphology, growing mycorrhizal fungi before inoculation, and maintaining fungal strains from contaminated cultures for identification.
⚠️ Do not use PDM for plant tissue culture — the high dextrose and low mineral content will not support plant growth and may cause osmotic damage.
