Description
π Banana Multiplication Medium (Stage II) β ready-formulated medium for commercial Musa (banana) micropropagation; pre-optimised with high BAP and the right macro:micro ratio for vigorous shoot multiplication.
| π¦ Format | Powder β 1 L | π¬ Grade | TC / Commercial |
| βοΈ Working pH | 5.7 | π‘οΈ Storage | 2β8 Β°C, sealed |
π Why banana has a dedicated medium
Commercial banana TC operates at scale β millions of plants per year. Banana shoots require high BAP (3β7 mg/L) and a specific sucrose:nitrogen balance for fast multiplication without vitrification. Pre-formulated media eliminate the weighing errors that devastate a production batch at commercial scale.
𧫠Stage guide
| Use | Concentration | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Stage I β Establishment | MS + 3 mg/L BAP + 0.5 mg/L NAA | Sword sucker explant |
| Stage II β Multiplication | This medium (high BAP) | Subculture every 4β6 weeks |
| Stage III β Rooting | Β½ MS + 0.5β1 mg/L IBA, no cytokinin | Root induction 3β4 weeks |
| Deflasking / Acclimatisation | Β½ MS or plain water agar | Harden before soil transfer |
π‘ High BAP banana cultures often show “cigar-shaped” shoots β normal. They elongate rapidly after transfer to hormone-free Β½ MS rooting medium.
