💡 Vacin & Went vs Knudson C
V&W includes tryptone (organic nitrogen) and ferrous sulphate as the iron source — making it slightly richer than Knudson C and better suited to PLB development and shoot elongation in cool-growing sympodial genera. Some protocols use V&W for establishment and switch to Knudson C for multiplication.
🌸 Best for
- ✅ Cymbidium — PLB initiation and multiplication
- ✅ Miltonia, Odontoglossum alliance
- ✅ Cool-growing sympodial genera
- ✅ Orchid protocorm elongation to shoot
